Cottage Hill Magazine {Styled Shoot}

I love shooting styled shoots!  For me its the culmination of a vision that a team worked so hard to pull off.  You can try things you wouldn't normally do during, maybe a wedding per se, but a styled shoot you can do anything...it just has to look good!  We recently got to work with Cottage Hill Magazine and LeRae Events + Design and we got to team up with "Team Awesome" again...LeRae Events + Design, Kamee Kwak, Whitlee Mullis and Us.

For this shoot the main idea was centered around high school sweethearts.  SO, the search was on for real highschool sweethearts that were married.  Within days LeRae had found our couple Peyton and Andy.  Obviously, they had known each other in highschool and dated throughout college and their story was such a heartwarming story of love.  We wanted a setting that would resemble a school but not just any school, a super awesome looking school.  All roads pointed to Huntington College in Montgomery AL so that was were we headed.  After we got the models and location, the Team began working their magic.  Kamee started by making Peyton and Andy look even more amazing by styling (hair and outfits) them to fit what we work looking for.  Peyton wore a Lusan Mandongus gown provided by Ivory & White Bridal Boutique in Birmingham and Andy wore a handsome tux from Jim Massey.  While they were getting ready, both Rae and Leah of LeRae went to work on styling the flowers and setting up the tablescapes.  To add the final touches and make everything come together, Whitlee Mullis styled the paper suites which are super eye catching.

The final product was stunning and full of inspiration!  To see the shoot in print you can order their Homecoming Issue at the Cottage Hill as well as see the other beautiful work they feature.

We can’t say enough about this wedding!  Our history with Kristin and her family goes back a couple of year when we were blessed to cover Kristin’s sister’s wedding, Erin and Jared.  We have loved them ever since and when Kristin contacted us we were so excited.  Taylor, you are one lucky man to join in with this family, but you probably know that already!  The details that Kristin and Taylor pulled into the wedding truly speak of their style; Toms and Chucks made the bridal party feel at ease.  Kristin even wore her mother’s veil that was lovingly made 43 years ago by her grandmother.  At the Motes barn where the reception was held, the Ryan Alan Band provided the background music that led the night in laughter and fun.  And if you like donuts, the Mr. and Mrs. provided a little bit of glazed joy for their guests to enjoy.  Guys, thank you so much for allowing us to serve you again and experience your hospitality!

This is one of those weddings that really no matter how hard you plan and have the best hopes for, things will change and yet, it all works out!  As we were preparing during the week, we kept seeing issues with rain popping up, 80% and then 60% and then back up.  The big plans were to have the ceremony and reception outside at the Sibley Center in beautiful Callaway Gardens.  As Saturday drew closer, we knew that it was more than likely going to rain and things would change and they did.  Everything was actually moved to the Discovery Center which provides a stunning view and beautiful backdrop.  But to tell you how things worked out and how God looked on us with favor, as we photographed the bridal party and Ali and Jared’s blinded first look, the rain held off and actually formed a horseshoe around the area of Callaway.  Even still, as the day progressed, the rain and clouds moved out and the afternoon was beautiful.  We loved Ali’s idea of seeing Jared before hand but keeping him blindfolded as she read both of their letters to each other; it was such an emotional moment to capture and yet it still did not take away from Jared seeing her as she walked down the aisle.  Getting to work with Jodie Creswell, wedding plaanner,  was an honor as well. She was able to make the ceremony and reception relocation as seamless and easy as possible; having professionals like that are priceless!  For that matter getting to work with Kim Nelson of Bloomwoods ( we are always amazed by her work) and Fran of The Cake Lady, reassures us that we are getting to work with the best to provide a dream wedding for our couples.

Be blessed! Wes and Meg

Sometimes there is nothing better than a sweet, simple, summertime, southern wedding. This wedding was all of that and more. Let me start back at the beginning…Lindsay was that sweet, quiet girl next door…she lived next door to us for about a year before we moved to our current home. We never thought we would be able to share in such a big moment in her life when we first met her during neighborly waves and backyard conversations about our dogs.  Our journey with Lindsay and Seth has been awesome! We joined them in their beloved city of Greenville, South Carolina for their engagement session and enjoyed the sights of Greenville as well. As we got to know both of them, we grew to love them!  Their wedding day was complete bliss and included amazing designs by LeRae Events (who never disappoint)! The bride and groom said I do surround by the beauty of the outdoors and their family and friends. The fun continued, after the ceremony, in the barn with great food by Red’s Little School House and one of our favorite bands The Park Band!  We are so honored to have been a part of their day and feel blessed to call Lindsay and Seth our friends!

Be Blessed, Meagan
